They aimed for 1080p, but it didn’t work out.
The number of PlayStation 3 releases supporting 1080p HDTV resolutions will undoubtably increase as the hardware matures, but for launch games, limited development time is an issue. Insomniac Games publicly stated they were aiming to include the option for 1080p in Resistance: Fall of Man, but as Sony’s Gamer’s Day kicks off in San Francisco, company president Ted Price confirms isn’t not happening in his IGN blog.

The brawler genre will have its PSP representative
Rockstar’s game, The Warriors, based on the 1979 Paramount Pictures classic film, will also be developed for the PSP system. Previously, fans of the genre had to purchase themselves a PlayStation 2 or an Xbox in order to play this Rockstar title.
The two Rockstar
subsidiaries, Rockstar Leeds and Rockstar Toronto, developing the game, plan to have it out and into the hands of PSP players everywhere this holiday season.
The game -The Warriors- follows the events depicted in the movie, but further enhances the storyline by expanding the Warrior’s reputation throughout the whole New York area. Some levels of the game, 1 through 13- to be more exact, take place before the story depicted in the movie. After the 13th level, the player is shown in a scene duplicating the beginning of the movie. The remaining levels cover the actual action of the movie.

Back in July, German zombie-haters were stymied in their quest to slay the undead when the Unterhaltungssoftware Selbstkontrolle (USK) refused to give the game a rating due to its excessive violence. While this didn’t officially ban the game, it effectively limited the scope of its release and made it available only as a hard-to-get under-the-counter sale.

What we heard: Given the amount of hype that is going into the launch of the Xbox 360 game Gears of War, it would seem that pumping out a demo would be a priority for Microsoft Game Studios. The marketing team behind the game has already held public events for common folk to try the game out before its release in November, so it also make sense that a demo would be appearing on Xbox Live Marketplace soon.
Unfortunately for those eagerly anticipating a free trial of the game before it is released, it doesn’t appear that a demo will be out before the game hits stores. In early August, Mark Rein, president of Gears developer Epic Games, said, “I don’t see any way we could do a demo before the game comes out.” He went on to explain that making a demo would take up valuable time that could be spent polishing up the retail version for its release.
